You’re wildly in love and always dreamed of a gorgeous Perth or Margaret River wedding. Now with the stress of travel plans, family aboard, you can still have a magical intimate wedding or elopement and that big celebration down the track. Western Australia, Perth and Margaret River hold some of the most beautiful spots right here, at your doorstep. So here are my top tips for Western Australian elopement.
My top 5 tips for your Elopement:
- You can literally get married anywhere, all you need is a lovely celebrant, 2 witnesses, and of course I'd recommend your favourite photographer.
- It is super easy, all you have to do is start with an enquiry.
- The memories you’ll have of tying the knot at your favourite weekend spot, the place you had your first date, a gorgeous native bush track or stunning forest will last a lifetime.
- You’re eloping, you’re not planning a huge wedding, so why not get a drop dead gorgeous bouquet or bring a bottle of your favourite champagne.
- If you are planning an intimate elopement with your nearest and dearest, you don't need all the traditional setup. Rather than chairs and arbours for the ceremony, invest in flowers, delicious food, champagne and cocktails.
- Of course splurging on a beautiful hotel room or a cute airbnb to get ready in, can provide an opportunity for some special natural photos together.
My top tips for photography to get the most out of your elopement:
- My favourite time to shoot is just at sunset and the 10/20mins after, the light is so naturally flattering at this time of day.
- Why not have your ceremony just before sunset, it's just you guys right.
- In Western Australia and Perth expect bright sunlight during the day, so if you’d like to have your ceremony during the day, I'd recommend a cute indoor venue, or outdoor spots in full shade (i.e. a beautiful forrest) or speckled shade in some of our lovely native parks.
- As a wedding and family photographer I spend a lot of time scouting for those incredible spots to shoot, spots a few minutes from my house I never knew existed before I started shooting a lot more this year. Ask me for my recommendations, you might find the perfect spot right around the corner.
- Think in a gorgeous forest, a beautiful tree or the rocks of your favourite cove splashed with a few florals (or without).
- You don’t need an arbour or to go to the registry office to get married, you just need each other (and a celebrant and 2 witnesses, easy).
- On the Margaret River beach cove, the Lancelin dunes, a lookout or mountain top at sunset or sunrise will never disappoint, pick your adventure, your way.
- I recommend deciding who is your one vendor you can't do without and invest in them. Whether it's your favourite venue, a photographer, a fun celebrant, your dress etc.
- If you like their style, ask that vendor for their recommendations (within your budget) and they should also make your journey a breeze, as they in turn work regularly with other beautiful suppliers in their style in the industry.
